Swansea – Revisiting an Old Friend

When I began writing my psychological thriller, Hide, I had the Australian outback clearly in my mind. This was to be a dry, dusty slow-burn thriller full of vast open spaces and searing heat. And for the first chapter, it was. The book opens at the Northern Territory-Queensland border in Australia. Alec Johnson is hitching a ride to the red centre but he’s found himself a chauffeur who seems to have more menacing things on his mind than getting Alec to his destination.

Beyond that though, I wanted Alec to have a very different backstory…
